Hello there!
My name is David Silbert, and I am the founder and creator of The Punished Backlog.
A soon-to-be college graduate, I’ve finally decided to do what I should have done long ago: write about the games I love to play.
During my long history with games, I have played, covered, and created content across a diverse range of platforms and mediums. From growing up with a Game Boy Color in my hands, to working as a sophomore in college as a freelance news and reviews writer, to teaching myself Java as a junior and starting development of a game of my own, gaming has always been a part of my life. With The Punished Backlog, I hope to pull from and share these experiences in order to provide fun and entertaining content for you, the reader.
Whenever I have a break during my life as a student, I love playing video games. Currently, I have been working my way through the epic The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch (and frankly, who isn’t?), as well as The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky on my Playstation Vita. My hope is to bring you all a nice mix of both topical and historical content, whether that be reviewing recent software and hardware, or looking back on the greatest JRPGs of the past 20 years. (As a short aside, my favorite game series would have to be Final Fantasy and Zelda, which have both put out quality games that have defined my childhood for the better.)
To keep this brief, The Punished Backlog is a dream come true for me, a hopeful writer looking to express myself while connecting with others around what is likely my favorite medium of entertainment. Games such as Journey, or Final Fantasy, or The Legend of Zelda are great because of the opportunities that they enable gamers to achieve, both in terms of gameplay and storytelling, music and art style, innovation and accessibility… The list goes on and on, and I find it humbling to be part of such a fantastic industry.
Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to bringing you all the latest news, along with a couple of surprises in store from myself as well!
Cheers,
David Silbert
